摘要: Questions about music's evolution and functions have long excited interest among scholars. More recent theoretical accounts stressed the importance of social origins functions. Autism Williams syndrome, neurodevelopmental disorders supposedly characterized by contrasting musical phenotypes, been invoked as evidence for these. However, empirical data on skills deficits in autism syndrome do not support notion phenotypes: research findings suggest that characteristic both may increase rather than reduce music. Current allow a direct comparison phenotypes although it is noted music cognition observed but autism. In considering broader questions understanding disorders, we conclude intellectual impairment likely to result qualitative differences between handicapped typical listeners, this does appear limit extent which individuals can derive benefits from experience listening
