Sample Shape and Boundary Dependence of Measured Transverse Thermal Properties

摘要: Despite increased interest in thermal Hall measurements for the analysis of insulating quantum materials, there remains large uncertainty such due to contact misalignment. In this paper we propose that sample geometry and uncertain boundary conditions may account measurement $D_{xy}$ or $\kappa_{xy}$ as well. By running simple simulations an open source finite-element solver, demonstrate measured a bar can be changed by factor order unity samples with similar width length. This geometric corrective depends on distinction between uniform heat flow constant temperature couplings bath. Sample accounted through simulation using rectangular make more reliable reproducible when amplitude is important.
