摘要: Ionizing radiation is well known to induce oxidative stress on target tissues, mainly through the generation of reactive oxygen species that present an enormous challenge for biological and medical safety. The study has been designed investigate protective role taurine (TA), a sulfur containing essential amino acid, against induced by gamma (γ) Irradiation. Rats were subjected single dose 6 Gray. Five days before or after irradiation, animals received TA daily (100 mg/kg body weight i.p.). In irradiated animals, marker malondialdehyde was significantly increased while marked decrease in catalase glutathione peroxidase activities as reduced contents hepatic, cardiac, renal tissues demonstrated. addition, serum lipid profiles, kidney functions alanine aminotransferase, aspartate gamma-glutamyl transferase, lactate dehydrogenase, creatine kinase disturbed irradiation. Moreover, γ-Irradiation hematological changes histopathological alterations cardiac tissues. Pretreatment with TA, improved radiation-induced injury indicated reduction indices liver, heart damage, peroxidation product, elevation antioxidants, attenuation disturbances histological architecture. Less protection obtained TA- post treatment suggesting administration protected tissue damage produced acute sublethal γ-irradiation rats decreasing way depending order administration.
