摘要: The size, age and dynamics of Pleistocene glaciers, especially ice sheets that periodically covered the northern seaboard Eurasia, are crucial for understanding evolution arctic climates, sea-level changes, biota tectonism. General ideas on glacial history vast areas Russia between 48° 148°E, beyond limits Fennoscandian glaciation, have considerably changed during last two decades. change towards modern views may even be considered as a paradigm shift from conventional wisdom previous half-century. transformation main landmarks late Quaternary started in 1970s accelerated after 1993 result international collaboration Russian Arctic. A wealth new sedimentological, geomorphic stratigraphic data has recently accumulated sedimentary record 200 ka. This information, together with collected native geological surveys, been synthesized form digital maps based key sites. results published contributions to programs QUEEN APEX also parts global compilations. These publications give general overviews Eurasian history, but some important reported only literature therefore hardly known community. In this paper I will first consider background material non-Scandinavian glaciations then follow review obtained course cooperation. outcome is inevitably influenced (or biased) by my long-term experience studying Russia. not discuss here extreme northeast Siberia (western Beringia), distinct topic partly overviewed recent publications.
