摘要: OBJECTIVES: To assess whether the Timed Up and Go (TUG) is superior to gait speed in predicting multiple geriatric outcomes. DESIGN: Prospective cohort study. SETTING: Medicare health maintenance organization Veterans Affairs primary care clinics. PARTICIPANTS: Adults aged 65 older (N=457). MEASUREMENTS: Baseline TUG were used predict decline according EuroQol Medical Outcomes Study 36-item Short Form Survey (SF-36) global health; functional National Health Interview (NHIS) activities of daily living (ADLs) score SF-36 physical function index; hospitalization; any falls over 1 year. RESULTS: Mean age was 74, 44% participants female. Odds ratios for all outcomes equivalent TUG. Using area under receiver operating characteristic curve 0.7 or greater acceptable predictive ability, each alone predicted health, new ADL difficulty, falls, with no difference ability between performance measures. Neither measure hospitalization, decline, decline. As a continuous variable, did not add outcome. CONCLUSION: Gait predicts most outcomes, including as does The time taken complete may information provided by speed, although its qualitative elements have other utility. Language: en
