摘要: The mechanism of resistance newborn mice to poliovirus-induced paralysis was studied by comparing regional virus replication in the adult and central nervous systems (CNS) after intracerebral (ic) intraspinal inoculation. Initial brains similar both age groups. Paralysis correlated with spinal cord a constant threshold, this newborns delayed. Intraspinal inoculation eliminated delay, indicating that neonatal anterior horn motor neurons were fully susceptible infection. Cordectomy prevented spread virus, despite patent cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pathways. Thus, poliovirus appeared within CNS via an axonal transport system. Known maturational changes fast system may explain relative immature paralysis.
