摘要: The “Carota di Polignano” (Polignano Carrot – PC, Daucus carota L.) is a multi-coloured landrace, cultivated in the Southern Italy, whose colours range from yellow to purple. It has interesting visual, sensorial and nutritional traits, thanks its antioxidant pigments sugars composition. Iodine an essential micronutrient for humans, since it key component of thyroid hormones, which regulate growth development human body. main source iodine assumption represented by diet, but concentration vegetables usually limited with respect needs. A way integrate diet iodinated kitchen salt, several studies have highlighted positive relationship between salt consumption onset cardiovascular diseases. To this purpose, two experimental trials (in open field greenhouse soil-less system) were carried out enrich PC iodine. Three levels (control treatment, C 0 mg·L-1; low, L 50 high, H 500 mg·L-1), distributed foliar spray fertilizations both greenhouse) or nutrient solution greenhouse, at only one level: mg·L-1) form KIO3 compared. In field, treatment showed biofortification that was double triple treatments, respectively, without influencing colour biometric parameters, such as fresh dry weight roots DM percentage. done fertilization followed same trend while means more effective reached very high had toxic effects on plants could be too nutrition. However, concentrations into biofortified carrots can allow satisfy recommended daily allowance (RDA) consuming 100 200 g product L, respectively. Regarding biofortification, RDA would satisfied (with level fertilization).
