摘要: Cementless fixation depends on bone ingrowth for long-term success. Simvastatin as a lipid lowering agent has been demonstrated to have osteoanabolic effects. This study was designed measure the possible effect of simvastatin implant osseointegration. Bilateral femoral implantation titanium cylinders performed in 20 rabbits. Blood levels were measured pre- and postoperatively. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) used percentage surface each contact with mechanical pull-out testing performed. The blood significantly reduced group. Histomorphometric examination revealed increased showed interface strength Mechanical histological data superior stability osseous adaptation at bone/implant We conclude that potential means enhancing ingrowth, which is key factor longevity cementless implants.
