CO-VERBS IN MANDARIN CHINESE: VERBS OR PREPOSITIONS?

摘要: They are semantically like prepositions, but many of them homophonous with verbs; because these two properties, grammarians have not been able to agree on their classification. Since there is an evident similarity certain co-verbs verbs being due the historical evolution present-day from earlier verbs, semantic arguments in favor regarding as prepositions compelling. These include fact that prepositional meanings, and sentences containing two-clause sentences. A comparison 'serial verb' constructions Mandarin makes this clear. The synchronic diachronic facts find exact parallel Kwa languages West Africa.
