摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter highlights conversion, including gasification and liquefaction, of fossil hydrocarbons. The term “conversion” for hydrocarbons is used to denote that transforms a solid or liquid substance into gaseous fuels liquefaction converts semisolid heavy hydrocarbon lighter “synthetic” oil by controlled molecular degradation. Both technologies attest the inherent versatility potential interchangeability Gasification thermally cracks an H-rich correspondingly C-enriched fraction thereby yields gas as by-product. It entire organic feed useful therefore deployed generation syngas fuel gases with varying heat contents. Specific information about chemistry kinetics still fragmentary and, at times, contradictory. Thus, disagreeing one study, from which it was concluded asphahenes plus fell systematically increasing coal rank another found grossly divergent dependencies yields, apparently because different regional metamorphic histories consequent disparate rank/reactivity relationships.
