The Derriford Appearance Scale (DAS59): a new psychometric scale for the evaluation of patients with disfigurements and aesthetic problems of appearance

摘要: The DAS59 has been designed and developed to meet the need for an objective measure of spectrum psychological distress dysfunction that is characteristic disfigurements, deformities aesthetic problems appearance. Content validity assured by basing scale's items on a detailed autobiographical study representative patients. Internal consistency high (0.98) test-retest reliabilities are good (general population: 0.75; clinical 0.86). Correlations with other appropriate standardised tests show criterion construct validity. Factor analysis 2741 data sets population population) identified three factors not feature specific two (bodily sexual features, facial features). thus generates full-scale score five factorial sub-scale scores. across range patient groups general subdivided into those concerned about highly sensitive as change following treatment large significant preoperative-postoperative reductions in scores patients treated features or bodily/sexual features. offers benefits selection both cosmetic reconstructive plastic surgery evaluation outcome. It provides valid reliable audit governance evaluating merits one protocol against another.
