摘要: To assess the role of operation in treatment and prevention local recurrence limited small cell lung cancer, we analyzed retrospectively 35 patients undergoing surgical resection for cancer between 1976 1982. Twenty-eight underwent presumed non-small histology. Seven later had planned combined modality therapy consisting chemotherapy prophylactic cranial irradiation followed by to primary site. Twenty-four received adjuvant postoperative and/or radiotherapy. All have been treated up a minimum 1 year. There were 19 Stage I 16 Stages II III. In 15 patients, relapse has occurred. The commonest site first was brain (7/15). Five these irradiation. only two there locally hemithorax mediastinum—one with NO disease one N1 disease. No noted six N2 Only relapses occurred beyond year—both brain. those surviving more than 2 years, no median survival time is 158 weeks III, 92.4 weeks. whole group projected 5 year rate 24%. It appears that may help prevent even our series, rates are similar seen cancer. eventual improvement overall awaits prospective randomized trials.
