摘要: Abstract. The RETAIN project (Radiological Exam-inations Transfer on an ATM Integrated Network)has aimed at testing videoconferencing and DICOMimage transfers to get advice about difficult radiolog-ical cases over asynchronous transfer mode(ATM)-based network, which affords a more com-fortable interface than narrow-band networks al-lows exchange of complete image series using the DI-COM format studies. For this purpose, experi-mental network was applied between six uni-versity hospitals in four different countries. An as-sessment functionalities system per-formed by means log-file analysis, video recordingof sessions forms filled out participantsat end each session. Questionnaires were an-swered users bringout perspectives utilisation added value. Wediscussed 43 during 20 sessions. technicalor organisational problems, only 36 plannedsessions took place. throughput (10.5Mbit/s, times faster ISDN B-channels)was adequate. Despite experimental configura-tion considered as sat-isfactory all physicians. In 72% sessions, the expected result (answer question) wasgained. By common consent, wasunanimously regarded prominent tool improv-ing interaction quality. Asynchronous transfermode is efficient method for fast transferring ra-diologic examinations DICOM dis-cussing them through high-quality videoconferenc-ing.Key words: Teleradiology – Telemedicine DICOM– Assessment
