摘要: Abstract There is much potential for sexual selection via female choice in the viviparous Goodeinae. In these fish, females do not store sperm, they invest heavily their embryos, and are receptive only briefly after parturition. Males cannot force copulations, attract by displaying large fins, bright coloration, and/or flamboyant courtship. Some of traits originated as sensory traps, but all now badges quality that costly to produce, maintain, or display. court constantly; this contrary females' interests most time, it amounts harassment. some species, geographic differences ecology have promoted population male ornamentation preferences, generating premating isolation genetic divergence. This explain pattern speciation inferred from phylogeny, thus any role driving goodeine probably being contained also promoting local extinction, which may be accelerated human activities.
