Symptomatic gastric leiomyoma mimicking giant gastric polyp: endoscopic diagnosis and removal.

摘要: Gastric leiomyoma is an uncommonly found benign submucosal neoplasm which may cause hemorrhage in rare cases. A 67-years-old patient was admitted to our attention due two episodes of hematemesis and melena occurred the previous days. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy showed a giant semi-pedunculated gastric polyp (diameter 4 centimeters) located at distal body. large ulcer with clot seen on polyp. We treated endoscopically using new two-steps-technique recently described by us for treatment pedunculated colorectal polyps, polypectomy successfully performed without immediate or delayed complications. Histological evaluation transected revealed morphology according leiomyoma. Endoscopic control, one four weeks 12 months later, complete reepithelization mucosa, any sign endoscopic, endosonographic histological recurrence disease. This case report shows that endoscopic approach be used also polyps.
