摘要: This paper describes experimental techniques developed for the adaptation of available commercial electron microprobes as convenient and versatile x‐ray spectrometers moderate resolution. Complete K‐emission spectra were measured Mg, Al, Si, elements selected sixfold‐ fourfold‐coordinated crystalline oxides. Numerous empirical correlations indicated by results. The structures Kβ bands oxide interpreted on basis their known crystal together with elementary molecular orbital theory. In this manner, observed peaks in band each assigned to specific transitions between valence orbitals inner 1s vacancy. New insight was thereby obtained concerning contributions covalent bonding these
