摘要: The sleep-wake cycle displays a characteristic 24-hour periodicity, providing an opportunity to dissect the endogenous circadian clock through study of aberrant behaviour. This article surveys properties clocks, with emphasis on mammals. Information was obtained from searches peer-reviewed literature in PUBMED database. Features that are highlighted include known molecular components their entrainment by external time cues and output pathways used clocks regulate metabolism A review human rhythm sleep disorders follows, including recent discoveries genetic basis. concludes discussion future approaches biology
