摘要: Complexation of alkaloids is an important strategy plants utilize to facilitate storage in vacuoles and avoid autotoxicity. Previous studies have implicated hydroxycinnamoyl quinate esters the complexation purine Coffea arabica. The goal this study was determine if Erythroxylum coca uses similar agents store abundant tropane alkaloids, such as cocaine cinnamoyl cocaine. Metabolite analysis various E. organs established a close correlation between levels those two quinic acid, chlorogenic acid 4-coumaroyl quinate. BAHD acyltransferase catalyzing final step biosynthesis isolated characterized, its gene expression found correlate with alkaloid accumulation. A physical interaction observed quantified vitro using UV NMR spectroscopic methods yielding values reported for caffeine chlorogenate complex C. These results suggest that other large quantities involves partners.
