摘要: Pearls are highly prized biomineralized gemstones produced by molluscs. The appearance and mineralogy of cultured pearls can vary markedly, greatly affecting their commercial value. To begin to understand the role pearl sacs-organs that form in host oysters from explanted mantle tissues surround synthesize pearls-we undertook transcriptomic analyses identify genes differentially expressed sacs producing with different surface structural characteristics. Our results indicate gene expression profiles correlate defects, suggesting regulation sac contributes quality. For instance, non-lustrous calcification significantly down-regulate associated cilia microtubule function compared giving rise lustrous pearls. These suggest profiling advance our understanding processes control biomineralization, which may be direct value industry, particularly relation defects result low
