摘要: Purpose To examine the relationship between type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and risk of having open-angle glaucoma (OAG) in an adult Latino population. Design Population-based cross-sectional study. Participants Latinos 40 years older (n = 5894) from 6 census tracts Los Angeles, California. Methods Angeles Eye Study (LALES), a large population-based study self-identified Latinos, answered interviewer-administered questionnaire underwent clinical complete ocular examination, including visual field (VF) testing stereo fundus photography. A participant was defined as (DM) if she or he had history being treated for DM, participant's glycosylated hemoglobin measured at 7.0% higher, random blood glucose 200 mg% higher. Type DM 30 when diagnosed with DM. Open-angle presence open angle glaucomatous VF abnormality and/or evidence optic disc damage least one eye. Logistic regression analysis used to identify OAG persons T2DM. Main Outcome Measure Prevalence OAG. Results Of 5894 participants data, 1157 (19.6%) T2DM 288 (4.9%) The prevalence 40% higher than those without (age/gender/intraocular pressure–adjusted odds ratio, 1.4; 95% confidence interval, 1.03–1.8; P 0.03). Trend revealed that longer duration (stratified into 5-year increments) associated ( Conclusion were independently LALES cohort. high prevalences their association this fastest growing segment United States population have significant implications designing screening programs targeting Latinos.
