摘要: We analyze the spatial diffusion of knowledge in laser technology West Germany from 1960, when this began, until 2005. Laser research has been nearly exclusively conducted regions that are home to a university with physics or electrical engineering department, an indication science-based character technology. Early adoption was especially prevalent large agglomerations. While we cannot detect spillovers adjacent regions, geographic proximity center initial conducive early research; however, effect is small. The earlier region embarked on type research, higher level later, indicating accumulation generated previous periods. Our results highlight role region's absorptive capacity for commencing and conducting new technological field. In case technology, it more existing tacit than interregional transfer played important role.
