摘要: A study involving 360 farrowings over a five-parity period evaluated the effects of dietary vitamin E on sow reproductive performance and subsequent serum, colostrum, milk tocopherol contents. The 2 x 3 split-split-plot experiment was conducted at two locations that differed in type facility (indoor gestation pens/farrowing crates [IP/FC] or outside lots/indoor farrowing pens [OL/FP]) three levels dl-alpha-tocopheryl acetate (22, 44, 66 IU/kg diet), with five parities nested within repeated measure design. Sow serum alpha-tocopherol, Se, glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity were measured 30 90 d postcoitum 21 postpartum (weaning) during each parity. Colostrum 7-, 14-, 21-d samples analyzed for alpha- gamma-tocopherol Se concentrations. Three pigs per litter bled weaning their alpha-tocopherol concentrations GSH-Px activity. results indicated weights daily lactation feed intakes birth not affected by provided to sow. There an increased number born (total, P < .01; live, .10) when increased. incidence mastitis, metritis, agalactia decreased (P .05) as higher first- second-litter sows, .01) location had OL/FP facility. Milk declined linearly from 7 parallel manner between levels. At weaning, pig level These support than currently recommended NRC (1988) both gestating lactating sows.
