摘要: Diabetes are a serious metabolic diseases characterized by abnormally increased plasma glucose levels. Botanical food products have been used for combating human thousands of years, since they exhibit wide range biological properties that can be exploited medical application. Phytochemicals from foods, including flavonoids, monoterpenes, terpenoids, stilbenes, lignans, coumarins, alkaloids, and others, proposed as effective supplements diabetes management prevention its long-term complications in vitro vivo. The mechanism antidiabetic activity dietary phytochemicals could summarized as: stimulation insulin secretion pancreatic β-cell, reduction resistance increasing sensitivity, glycogenesis hepatic glycolysis, activation PPARγ, anti-inflammatory antioxidant effects, inhibition α-amylase, β-galactocidase α-glucocidase, intestinal absorption glucose. Therefore the anti-diabetic effects their action botanical foods traditionally treatment mellitus critically reviewed.
