摘要: This paper outlines the conflicts and synergies between risk resilience approaches to climate change adaptation planning in vulnerable coastal areas of Australia. It examines whether current processes shaping settlements Australia are sufficiently informed build adaptive capacity for their communities under impacts. Considerable research date has focused on application management identifying vulnerabilities predicted worst-case scenarios. approach often proposes ‘hard’ infrastructure changes adaptation. However, little work been done looking at implementing supporting such strategies while addressing inherent uncertainty future so-called ‘soft’ is critical building a community’s ability innovate prosper adapting unforeseen challenges posed by changing climate. argued that introducing concepts municipal settlements, particularly development control plans (DCP’s) may provide more comprehensive
