摘要: This Chapter provides highlights on the mechanism of a photosystem II (PS II) damage and repair cycle in chloroplasts. Photo-oxidative to PS reaction center is phenomenon that occurs every organism oxygenic photosynthesis. Through process evolution, an elaborate was devised, one rectifies this presumably unavoidable irreversible photoinhibition restores charge separation activity. The entails several enzymatic reactions for selective removal replacement inactivated D1/32 kD protein (the chloroplast-encoded psbAgene product) from massive (>1,000 kD) H2O-oxidizing O2-evolving holocomplex. unique annals biology; nothing analogous complexity specificity has been reported other biological systems. Elucidation may reveal occurrence hitherto unknown regulatory catalytic situ specific proteins within multi-protein complexes. not only have significant applications photosynthesis agriculture but also medicine fields.
