The framing of nuclear energy in Chinese media discourse: A comparison between national and local newspapers

摘要: Abstract Media’s framing can affect the public’s opinion and policy debates. Investigating media’s of nuclear energy in China, a country with ambitious development strategy instead trend global phasing out, contribute broader understanding linkage between media development. This paper analyzes frames China from 2000 to 2016 using reports two national local newspapers. One thousand seventy-nine news were collected coded for analysis constructed risk-benefit coding frame, logit/logistic ordinary least squares regression methods employed. The results demonstrate that Chinese tends be supportive Fukushima accident, 2011, has negatively impacted on benefit positively risk frames. Moreover, newspapers present different patterns. National tend more while either frame through or keep silent. public, media, nongovernmental organizations are rarely mentioned reports.
