摘要: Range management research at the Fort Valley Experimental Forest during past 100 years has provided scientific knowledge for managing ponderosa pine forests and forest-range grazing lands in Southwest. Three time periods are identified: 1908 to 1950, 1950 1978, 1978 2008. Early (1908-1950) addressed ecological effects of livestock on regeneration forage plant growth. In later (1950-1978) scope broadened include multiple uses forest resources (trees, understory vegetation, livestock, wildlife, etc.), environmental socio-economic impacts, tree, forage, animal interactions interrelationships. Currently (1978- 2008) is focused biodiversity, ecosystem restoration, ecology invasive non-native species.
