摘要: In-car devices that use audio output have been shown to be less distracting than traditional graphical user interfaces, but can cumbersome and slow use. In this paper, we report an experiment demonstrates how these performance characteristics impact whether people will elect interface in a multitasking situation. While steering simulated vehicle, participants had locate source of information short passage text. The text was presented either on visual interface, or using text-to-speech interface. relative importance each task varied. A no-choice/choice paradigm used which first gained experience with the two before being given choice later trials. interaction as measured no-choice phase, task, modality chosen phase. Participants prioritized secondary tended select (faster yet more distracting) over result poorer lane keeping performance. This work user's objective influence choices multimodal multitask environments.
