摘要: Belladonna mottle virus, a spherical plant virus belonging to the tymovirus group, was crystallized by precipitation with polyethylene glycol 6000 in sodium citrate buffer (pH 5.6). The crystals belong rhombohedral space group R3 (a \simeq 300 A, \alpha 60 °) one molecule unit cell, and diffract X-rays 3.5/~ resolution. Owing special interaxial angle of 60°, lattice can also be described terms pseudo-face-centred cubic cell. face-centring vectors pseudo cell form edges three-dimensional X-ray diffraction data on these were collected using screenless oscillation photography resolution 6 A. 37 842 independent reflections {I/ \sigma (I) \geq 2-0} measured 51 filn ^pairs. parameters refined = 295.4A 59.86 ° postrefinement procedure. A rotation function calculated between 11 13 unambiguously reveals particle icosahedral symmetry orientation body diagonals pseudo-cubic are nearly tetrahedral. has set tetrahedrally related threefold axes. is such that two sets made coincident 180 about [111] direction.
