摘要: Examining Canada and Britain from 1990 to 2004, the thesis explores how surge in minority nationalist agitation that occurred Quebec Scotland changed political environment (outside Quebec) England allowing regional elites advance agendas which mobilized national identities. The considers role of democratic institutions at level shaping demands through a comparative study identity mobilization Nova Scotia North East England. analysis contends relationship between majority nations is dialectical; nationalism stems fundamentally different interpretations state not ‘fault’ either nation.
