摘要: Seeds are complex biological systems comprising three genetically distinct tissues: embryo, endosperm, and maternal tissues (including seed coats pericarp) nested inside one another. Cereal grains represent a special type of seeds, with the largest part formed by specialized triploid tissue ensuring embryo protection nourishment. We investigated dynamic changes in DNA content major from time pollination up to dry seed. show that cell cycle is under strict developmental control different compartments. After an initial wave active division, cells switch endocycle most endoreduplication events observed endosperm tissues. Using barley cultivars, we there natural variation kinetics this process. During terminal stages development, specific selective loss endoreduplicated nuclei occurs endosperm. This accompanied reduced stability nuclear genome, progressive viability, finally programmed death. In summary, our study shows endopolyploidization death linked phenomena frame grain development.
