摘要: Background: Emerging antibiotic resistance in uropathogenic E. coli (UPEC) is a global problem that results treatment failure. Mobile genetic elements are key players dissemination of genes via horizontal gene transfer (HGT). Objective: This prospective study was designed to investigate the possible role HGT (via conjugation process) spread from MDR-UPEC strains sensitive strain DH5α. Materials and Methods: performed at Department Microbiology, University Karachi February July 2019. Four UPEC belonging different phylogenetic groups A, B1, B2 D were selected for assay. Sodium azide induced DH5α study. Transconjugants confirmed phenotypically by disc diffusion method genotypic confirmation done PCR method. Results: successfully sodium resistance. Conjugation experiment proved blaCTX-M, blaTEM class 1 integron transferred isolates DH5α. Conclusion: The current concludes drug resistant blaTEM, blaCTX-M may be transmitted donor MDR recipient HGT.
