摘要: Palliation of malignant small intestinal obstructions beyond the reach conventional endoscopes for stent placement generally requires endoscopic decompression via a gastrostomy tube or surgical bypass in patients who are operable candidates. With advent deep enteroscopy, palliative mid-gut obstruction using currently available self-expandable metal stents may be feasible selected cases. Proper patient selection and technical proficiency enteroscopy key determinants successful outcome. Alternative means delivery, including percutaneous route, also being developed, with hope expanding use mid bowel palliation. Copyright 2014, Society Gastrointestinal Intervention.
