摘要: Abstract Background and purpose This study compared lateral photon/electron plan (3DCRT), intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) plan, high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy for total scalp irradiation. Materials methods The techniques were planned on a patient with squamous cell carcinoma of the prescribed 60Gy. Conformity indexes volume histograms used comparison. Results Clinical target coverage factors 3DCRT, IMRT, HDR 0.976, 0.998, 0.967, Conformation Numbers 0.532, 0.713, 0.761, respectively. gradient across was 59–136%, 91–129%, 58–242% techniques, 3DCRT IMRT produced low optical structure doses. hotspots in brain, while brain sparing. highest integral doses to structures. Conclusions provided best homogeneity coverage, delivered clinically acceptable normal most conformal but is limited by eyes. feasible alternative less extensive lesions, lower prescription doses, patients who cannot lie treatment table.
