摘要: Mucuna pruriens var. utilis, an underutilized tropical legume has a nutritional quality comparable to soya beans and other conventional legumes as it contains similar proportions of protein, lipid, minerals, nutrients. The have been traditionally used food in number countries, viz., India, Philippines, Nigeria, Ghana, Brazil, Malawi. Recently, the velvet are exploited protein source diets fish, poultry, pig, cattle after subjected appropriate processing methods. Although contain high levels carbohydrate, their utilization is limited due presence antinutritional/antiphysiological compounds, phenolics, tannins, L-Dopa, lectins, protease inhibitors, etc., which may reduce nutrient utilization. Unfortunately, even though many researchers all over world working on Mucuna, only scanty conflicting information available regarding its food/feed no scientific gathering date focused applications Mucuna. Hence, present review emphasized potential this underutilized, nonconventional current state for both human beings livestock throughout world.
