摘要: Purpose This study reviews the outcomes of children undergoing myelomeningocele (MMC) repair in paediatric neurosurgical department Cardiff. These procedures are historically performed by neurosurgeons with occasional support from plastic surgeons for larger lesions. We reviewed postoperative over a 9-year period to assess efficacy having surgeon present at all MMC closures. Methods Analysis prospectively collected database closures University Hospital Wales April 2009 August 2017 was used. Comparison made published literature especially regard complications. Results Thirty-one children, 13 males and 18 females, underwent closure period. Twenty-four (77.4%) defects were closed direct approximation. Seven patients (22.5%) required more complex procedure obtain closure. Two (6.5%) had wound complication, one infection flap edge necrosis both healing dressings alone. cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks that responded ventriculo-peritoneal shunting. died unrelated conditions during period. Conclusion In our series, 7/31 cases involved keeping literature. The authors feel has led low complication rate.
