摘要: In this study, functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) was used to record brain activation during cognitive testing in older individuals (88±6yo; N = 19) living residential care communities. This population, which is often associated with loss of personal independence due physical or decline aging, also under-represented neuroscience research because a limited means participate studies take place large urban university centers. we demonstrate the feasibility and initial results using portable 8-source by 4-detector fNIRS system measure activity from participants within community Using fNIRS, signals were recorded series computerized tests, including Symbol Digit Coding test (SDC), Stroop Test (ST), Shifting Attention (SAT). The SDC SAT elicited greater left middle frontal region interest. Three components ST produced increases right superior frontal, regions. An association between advanced age increased observed incongruent ST. Although none had clinical dementia based on short mental status questionnaire, group performance slightly below age-normed values these tests. These capability for obtaining neuroimaging measures settings, ultimately may aid prognosis related adults.
