摘要: Dirofilaria repens causes an emerging zoonotic disease in Europe, particularly its southern part, the Mediterranean region. Many reports on human dirofilariosis have been published recently, but little is known about wildlife hosts and reservoirs of this parasite nature. This paper presents first records adult D. specimens from free-ranging carnivores Central Balkan countries (Serbia Macedonia). During period 2009–2013, a total 145 regularly shot canids were examined for presence adults. In order to investigate their role as potential wild zoonosis, 71 wolves (Canis lupus), 48 foxes (Vulpes vulpes) 26 jackals aureus) examined. Under skin two (one Serbia one Macedonia) red fox adults found. all three cases only was present. Further research needed, species widening range (such jackals) those living near settlements (foxes jackals), which facilitates transmission parasites dogs humans.
