摘要: During root canal irrigation, we aim for the chemical dissolution or disruption and mechanical detachment removal of pulp tissue, dentin debris smear layer (instrumentation products), microorganisms (planktonic biofilm), their products out system. The different endodontic irrigation systems have own irrigant flow characteristics, which should fulfill these aims. Flow (convection) promotes distribution irrigants through However without flow, has to be distributed diffusion is slow depends on temperature concentration gradients. irrigants, frictional forces will occur between wall (wall shear stress). These participate in cleaning walls. This chapter describes typical produced by including related stress. Furthermore, influence effect biofilm (disinfection), discussed.
