Examining mediators of intimate partner violence and depressive symptoms among Thai women with gynecological problems

摘要: Although associations among intimate partner violence, stress, social support, self-esteem, and depressive symptoms are well documented, the mechanism of these links has not been fully explored. This study is part a larger research project that investigated health consequences, coping patterns 532 Thai women with gynecological problems. The aim this was to examine potential mediators (e.g., self-esteem) relationship between violence by using structural equation modeling approach. Data were collected from self-reported questionnaires, including the: Demographic Characteristics Questionnaire, Abuse Assessment Screen, Index Spouse Abuse, Stress Test, Multidimensional Scale Perceived Social Support, Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale, Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale. Results revealed 21.1% participants experienced within previous year 17.1% had symptoms. Intimate significantly positively correlated stress but negatively support self-esteem. exhibited indirect effect on through model fitted empirical data accounted 92% variance Therefore, intervention programs include role factors may be effective in preventing abused
