摘要: The double fertilization process in angiosperms is based on the delivery of a pair sperm cells by pollen tube (the male gametophyte), which elongates towards an embryo sac female gametophyte) enclosing egg and central cell. Several studies have described mechanisms gametophyte interaction, also - from pollination to acceptance. However, gamete interaction are not fully understood. Cytological shown that gametes possess distinct cell-surface structures genes specific been detected cDNA libraries. Thus, isolated may offer clues understanding sperm-egg interaction. In this study, we identified novel protein, designated GCS1 (GENERATIVE CELL SPECIFIC 1), using generative Lilium longiflorum pollen. possesses carboxy-terminal transmembrane domain, homologues present various species, including non-angiosperms. Immunological assays indicate accumulated during late gametogenesis localized plasma membrane cells. addition, Arabidopsis thaliana mutant fail fuse, resulting sterility suggesting critical factor angiosperms.
