摘要: Grewia asiatica L. fruit natively called phalsa is a popular berry of Pakistan and widely consumed in the form fresh juices carbonated drinks summer season. The enriched with antioxidants such as phenols, flavonoids, anthocyanins, vitamin C. Scientifically, it least explored terms neuromodulatory activities, therefore, designed study, chronically fed rats different dilutions (5%-30%) juice were subjected to behavioral assessment for anxiety, depression, cognition (spatial memory) followed by biochemical analysis isolated brains. Results revealed prominent impact 20 30% exudate treated animals showed anxiolytic behavior central zone (P < 0.05) open field test (OFT) arms elevated plus maze (EPM) anxiety models. Overall, immobility higher concentration forced swim (FST) was reduced presenting antidepressant-like activity. Moreover, learning memory experimental models, reversed scopolamine-induced amnesic effects evident from improved step-through latencies 0.05 vs. scopolamine; passive avoidance test), spontaneous alternation Y-maze discrimination index novel object recognition escape Morris water maze). Biochemical studies brains demonstrated significantly levels superoxide dismutase glutathione peroxidase 0.05), whereas acetylcholinesterase malondialdehyde level reduced, indicating its potential reduce oxidative damage brain modulation cholinergic system. outcomes support benefits phytoconstituents possessed G. amelioration neurological disorders that could be due their antioxidative capacity or interaction GABAergic, serotonergic, systems brain.
