摘要: Abstract This study investigated the physical state and metabolic status of lambs different birth ranks soon after birth. The aim was to identify factors that result in poorer survival rates triplet than single or twin lambs. Six hundred twenty one Romney ewes were mated over a 4-day period 46 them observed continually from day 143 pregnancy until they finished lambing. Blood samples, taken all within 5 min birth, placed on ice, centrifuged plasma harvested subsequently analysed for glucose, fructose, lactate, thyroxine (T4) gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT). rectal temperature each lamb recorded at 1, 2, 3 6 h life. Lambs weighed measured 3 h age. At significantly lighter ( P These physiological limitations found smaller leave prone perinatal mortality. Management techniques, increase birthweight thereby improve their outcome need further investigation.
