摘要: The study documents the presence of ultradian 90-min variations in daytime EEG, Eight adult subjects were recorded an isolation chamber for 8 hrs (0930-1730). Referential frontal (F3 and F4) parietal (P3 P4) EEGs obtained frequency analyzed every 15 min a duration 100 s with eyes open. Behavioral psychological data also gathered. Spectral analyses showed significant 16 c/day (72-120 min) rhythms at Kieitman's basic-rest-activity-cycle (BRAC) rate overall EEG (4-20 Hz) each hemisphere. These electro-cortical fluctuations phase between two hemispheres. They peaked significantly only sites. For individual bandwidths, right theta marked, though not statistically significant, rhythm frequency. Substantial peaks observed. Individual differences may have accounted observed variability intensity this BRAC-frequency rhythm. Subjects showing greater rhythmicity their general less emotionally stable on Eysenck neuroticism subscale considered themselves as poorer sleepers. present findings suggest that these reflect periodic oscillations brainstem arousal system(s).
