摘要: Many small communities in nature persist for varying periods and ultimately disappear by merger with the larger within which they occur. To such units I apply term microcommunity. The microsere has been applied Mohr (1943) to seral sequence occurs of this nature. Microcommunities microseres are interest ecologists that frequently importance influencing structure major found. studies microcommuniiues associated carrion have published. Early recognition particular microcomnunity is indicated Brehm's Thierleben (Taschenberg 1877), contains several plates depicting insect assemblages at various types gives accounts habits some carrion-frequenting insects. Among later more detailed studies, mention may be made those Megnin (1894), Johnston & Villeneuve (1897), Motter (1898), Illingworth (1926), Holdaway (1930), Walsh (1931, 1933), Fuller (1934), Kaufmann (1937), Cole (1942) Howden (1950). Although many these excellent thorough, numerous aspects microcommunities remain uninvestigated. present paper attempts an analysis dog-carcass reference development, seasonal variation, environmental factors. avoid redundancy, ancd brevity, terms community sere will generally used refer carcass microseres. prefix micro- added when it seems desirable distinguish entities from their seres.
