摘要: The aim of this study was to identify and compare movement strategies used maintain balance while single leg standing on either a firm surface (FS) or wobble board (WB). In 17 healthy men, retroreflective markers were positioned the xiphoid process nondominant lateral malleolus calculate trunk contralateral-leg excursion (EXC) velocity (VEL), center pressure (CoP) EXC VEL during FS force platform. From WB test, time (WBTIME) determined board's angular calculated from four as surrogate measures for CoP dynamics. Electromyographic average rectified values (ARV) eight thigh muscles supporting limb both tasks. ARV amplitudes normalized with respect value presented significantly higher peroneus longus biceps femoris activity (p<0.05). correlated sagittal plane (r=-0.73 at p=0.016) (r=-0.67 p=0.03). weakly not between This lack correlation indicates that maintenance requires beyond ankle strategy described task. likely demands different biomechanical neuromuscular control strategies, which has immediate implications significance tests in contrast tests. Differences will also have understanding mechanisms rehabilitation training using such devices.
