摘要: Fine-scale space-use of drift-feeding fish is underpinned by an energetic trade-off that makes spatial positioning paramount for fitness, especially in a group context. However, methodologies used to study the are mainly based on direct visual observation, and accuracy such approach can be questionable. Furthermore, previous studies focused territorial salmonids, as they relatively easy observe. Here, we use digital imaging technique manually extract position feeding events three dimensions (3D), at very fine spatiotemporal scale, from situ stereo-video footages. We motion model quantify individual strategies two (2D) through horizontal plane (perpendicular gravity) vertical (parallel flow). (brown trout, Salmo trutta) nonterritorial (roundhead galaxiid, Galaxias anomalus) juvenile test this methodology over broad spectrum space-use. Results show permits reliable quantification could reveal relevant insights their respective behavioral ecologies. En outre, etudes precedentes etaient axees des salmonides territoriaux, puisque ces derniers sont assez faciles aobserver.
