摘要: Summary Platelets are crucial subcellular elements of haemostasis at sites vascular injury and also known to be immune mediators in pathological thrombosis. Despite the integral role platelets many disease processes, there is very little information available on platelet function response agonists healthy children. We recently reported important differences interaction with monocytes circulation, including increased formation monocyte-platelet aggregates (MPAs) without concomitant increase P-selectin expression. Our current study investigates parameters activation (PAC-1 binding expression) MPA a range physiologically relevant children compared adults. All were significantly higher sub-maximal concentrations thrombin receptor activator peptide adenosine diphosphate, reflecting an age-specific difference agonist-stimulated reactivity The results our challenge general assumption that similar This finding fundamental investigating diseases childhood pathogenesis adult-based have their origins childhood. findings underscore need for reference ranges rather than extrapolation from adult data.
