摘要: Cosmopolitan populations of Drosophila melanogaster have co-opted a form reproductive diapause to overwinter in northern populations. Polymorphism the couch potato gene has been implicated genetic variation for this trait. Using collection 20 from Florida Canada and 11 collections 3 years Pennsylvania orchard, we estimated allele frequencies 15 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) gene. These include specific polymorphism associated with inducability. We find that SNP polymorphism, 48034(A/T), is correlated latitude its are predicted by incidence clinal patterns cpo SNPs sampled 1997 similar same 2009-2010. show apparent associations expression also low-expression increasing frequency, as would be functional knockout studies cpo. Finally, see significant pattern where frequency diapause-causing drops during summer season, consistent drop The selection required drive response large, roughly 24% 59% per generation depending on degree dominance.
