Breast cancer and breast self-examination: What do Scottish women know?

摘要: Abstract To aid the design of a health education campaign centred around breast screening programme, survey knowledge about cancer and self-examination was carried out in 810 women selected randomly from electoral registers Edinburgh Aberdeen. On whole, level poor, but strongly related to age, social class, previous experience problems preventive behaviour. Very few knew signs look for other than lump or any treatments mastectomy radiotherapy. Although 57% had tried were practising self-examination, only small minority correct technique when do it. There may be several reasons our findings, including lack appropriate information professional sources, avoidance due fear anxiety motivation because this disease is not seen as an important single threat. These results will compared with later part evaluation campaign.
